Daytime Postpartum Support
Adjusting to life with a newborn can be challenging especially while recovering from birth. A postpartum doula is there to provide emotional, physical, and educational support. This service is individualized to help with whatever feels good that day. I don’t come in to snuggle baby while you work around the house (unless you want to!) but assist with any tasks that put you at ease.
Please note, a doula is not a nanny or babysitter (both are valuable supports) as they provide a different service.

Nighttime Postpartum Support
After 4.5 years of supporting families in their home, I have seen the need for a mix of both guidance about baby and support with household tasks as well as sleep for the entire family. Instead of a full overnight where I don't interact with parents and minimally support baby, I have designed a combination of support that is all encompassing. This can be especially helpful to families providing baby with human milk as it is most protective of their supply.
By booking this "nighttime support" families will receive specialized support during the hours of 5 pm - 11 pm (these can be adjusted based on family needs but in my experience this is when baby goes down for the night). Upon arrival I can offer support during baby's fussiest and hungriest time of day allowing parents a break. If baby wants to snuggle a parent, I am happy to prepare dinner or complete other household tasks parents had hoped to be completed earlier in the day! After eating parents are welcome to do what they please with their time. They can go to sleep, spend time together, take a shower, etc. For the rest of the evening I will take charge of cluster feeding baby as well as getting them to sleep. Before I leave for the night I will make sure baby is changed, fed, and asleep.

Birth Support
A Birth Doula is a non-medical professional who provides support to the birthing person and support partner during labor and birth. Support for both parties can be physical, emotional, and informational. Doulas work with the family to achieve the most satisfying birth and postpartum experiences possible. Working with a Birth Doula can decrease the use of medical interventions, reduce time in labor, decrease the anxiety of the birthing person and/or support person, improve bonding with baby post-birth, etc. Alyssa is a DONA trained Birth Doula.
