Who should I hire?
There are a variety of different professionals who work with parents and children. What does each one do? Which is the right fit for your family?
This blog post is long overdue but one I hope will be helpful to everyone who has, loves, and cares for children of all ages. More often than not when I share about my business and use the word “Doula” the follow up is “a what?” If you google the word Doula you will typically see a definition like “a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.” I guess this definition is fine when describing it quickly and succinctly but Doulas are just so much more dynamic. You may hear the terms “Birth Doula”, “Postpartum Doula”, “Fertility Doula”, “Abortion Doula”, and “Full Spectrum Doula” or none of these at all. We can be one, we can be all, we can be a combo of a few. Regardless of title, a Doula of any discipline has knowledge about the prenatal, birth, and postpartum resources and are amazing resources in addition to your other providers.
